Alive again!

A lot has happened in the past few months! Here's a quick overview.

- I disappeared!
- I've acquired one whole boyfriend!
- Moved from NYC to California!
- Wrote a bunch of songs!
- My band starts practicing in a few weeks!
- I have a BAND now!
- And I'm back.

I kind of lost my feel for gal for a while -- life happened, and I couldn't really keep up with things because of that -- so now I'm back, and I have a few interesting plans for this blog.. but stay tuned for all of that. Our lease on the current place ends soon, so once we get settled into our new (bigger, better) apartment, you can expect pictures of a new, growing wardrobe, interior design, and all of my (mis)adventures in California. :)

That said, I've been lurking gal blogs for the past few weeks to get back into the groove of things, and I discovered that Bloomzy has a new contest going on! I really want to win, 'cause honestly.. all of my lenses have expired and my makeup collection could use a kick in the right direction. So, fingers crossed.

CHECK OUT HER CONTEST AND ENTER TOO! Good luck!

raiders of the lost blog (hair, hair, hair!)

Okay, first post.. might as well dive right into it. Temple of Doom is on right now, so I might get distracted, but I promise that I'll keep this as 'on track' as possible!

Right now my only gal-related activities have been research, research, research - mainly because I'm broke, and I'd rather wait for fall season to hit. I've been practicing a lot with makeup (working for the evil corporate machine that is Sephora helps a ton) and using pieces that I have to coordinate something presentable, but there's a lot that I still want to do once fall hits and I actually have money to toss around on fashion. For my first post, I've decided to focus on hair; primarily short hair and gal, since that's still kind of new/being reintroduced to the scene..

I love it so much, it's sad.

So, that's me about a month ago. I haven't changed much save for losing a few ell-bees and letting my hair grow out about an inch, so I've decided that the first thing I wanna' do is get my hair taken care of. It's been dark brown for a while now (my natural color - I had dyed it a few times before, reddish-brown and a lighter brown, but nothing extreme) and I've kept it that way because it frames my face nicely, and I wanted to reconnect with my natural color.

a shot from sunday; playing with curls and lenses

That said, I've reconnected and enjoyed it, and I want a change for the next season. There's a nice salon across the street that does pretty awesome dye jobs, so I think I might get my hair colored and get a little trim so that the ends are nice and polished. So, here go some hairspirations..

I love this! I've been wanting to do something a little extreme, and it looks really nice against light skin. The downside about having short hair is that it isn't extremely common in gal, but I've noticed a slow increase in short hair recently, which is great. Sure, there's your standard cute bob cut, but playing around with that hair and letting it curl is fun and cute! Long hair is always a pain to manage, and though it's pretty, I find it a waste of time. Plus, my face just looks better when my hair is short. (Also, yeah, this one's a wig -- but I don't care, man, I'd totally do it.)

A cute take on straight bangs with curls! I love the wild hair - rule breaking is always fun when it's done right - but I don't think I'd pull it off as well as she does, haha.

And finally..

My favorite gal model, Kanako Kawabata. She's such a huge inspiration because she rocks short hair, and, well.. she just generally rocks. I love her rock-kei styles and her wild, fun personality. She's nuts (er, well, egg, haha) and I love 'er!

So, that's my first goal. The next post will detail my favorite fall fashion picks, as well as a few choice scans from this month's EGG magazine, since I just picked that up yesterday.

If any of you have some neat short-haired gal styles, I'd love to see them! The more inspiration, the better - I wanna' do this right, so any help is appreciated!

Thanks for reading! See you soon!
